Introduction

History

- Department of anatomy is located in the ground floor of the college building. It comprises of well illuminated museum in the heart of the departmental area displaying soft specimen & ample of hard specimen of human body. To the right of the museum is the well ventilated & illuminated histology laboratory and preparation room. Anatomy department has two demonstration room which is well equipped with audio-visual aid.

- Department of anatomy has taken initiative in body donation program& embalming process, which will be implemented in near future. It has cold storage & formalin storage tank for preservation of cadavers, which is utilized for dissection during first year undergraduate curriculum

- Generate quality learning by the guidance of well trained and experienced teachers to build strong future & fruitful environment of undergraduates

- Create ragging free environment in campus, by embedding moral values and student-teacher friendly environment

- Bring about the competitive environment by conducting quizzes, conference etc. & guiding them to participate the same at district, state & national level.

- Department is well equipped with research laboratory, looking for project & research in histology and gross anatomy

- Embalming of cadaver is near to set in the department by organizing body donation program

Objectives:

At the end of the 1styr of MBBS, the students should be able to,

I. Recall the gross anatomy (structure) of human body

II. Correlate the structure (macroscopic µscopic) with the function of the organs and tissues

III. Apply the knowledge of gross & microscopic anatomy in interpreting clinical conditions & performing clinical/surgical procedures

IV. Recollect the normal development of human being in utero& explain the basis of various congenital anomalies

V. Recall the basic concepts of genetics and describe common genetic defects

VI. Practice the attitudes towards student-teacher & doctor- patient relationship

VII. Spread amongst the society, the importance of health, body donation & embalming
